Well it has been a crazy 6 months of exams, performances and WTA success stories. After the wedding students were busy in the lead up to their classical ballet exams, attending extra lessons and working very hard.  We are extremely proud of our students who all did well and achieved 100% pass rate within the school.  Whilst the ballet lot were working away for their exams the modern, tap and jazz side of the school were working tirelessly for the Christmas Cabaret, this year held at All Saints Primary School.  It was such a success!  The children performed beautifully and energetically, bringing the magic of Christmas to all who watched.

During the New Year former student Nikki (Queen of hearts) was busy auditioning for professional jobs, we were delighted to wave her off to her first contract in ‘Disneyland Paris,’ where she has recently started rehearsals to join the parade.  At the same time, senior student Tilly Woodward (Wendy in Peter Pan) had been auditioning for professional dance conservatoires, she auditioned for Laban, LSCD, NSCD and Rambert and was offered a place at all of them.  She has accepted a place at Rambert School of ballet and contemporary, where she will begin her 3 year degree course.  We couldn’t be happier for them, such extreme dedication and passion shown from both throughout their time with us. Two extremely deserving and talented girls, a great WTA success.

In March the adult Bollywood dance class and senior jazz were asked to perform at a Bollywood evening held by the Soroptomists at the Clarke Foley Centre to raise money for a children’s charity in Gorakhpur, India.  We had great fun getting ready and enjoyed yet another chance to perform for the community.  In fact, it seems we are in high demand as we have recently been contacted about another Bollywood evening at the Hollygarth in Ben Rhydding on the 3rd June.  Tickets are still available.

In April, the senior jazz students and associate class were asked back to perform at the annual Magic Circle show, due to popular demand; opening the first act with an uplifting dance to ‘Rockabye baby’ by Clean Bandit and the second to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Cristiana Perri, danced in the beautiful rainbow dresses.  They were absolutely amazing, as usual made us very proud with their professionalism.  The praise we received was a great testament to all we do at WTA.

Finally, to end with another wedding.  Rebecca Munns, one our senior girls got married on Saturday 29thApril in York;  It was a beautiful day and she looked every bit the Disney princess in her white dress and Cinderella shoes. We wish them every bit of  happiness as they embark on their fairy-tale journey together, starting with their honeymoon in Disney World.
