My gorgeous little peanut with his good friend Christopher, always take ballet very seriously whilst having so much fun. They are literally coming on leaps and bounds, and hold their heads up high being male ballet dancers. Their emerging talents are being nurtured and led by an incredible dance school with incredibly talented and highly experienced teachers. Let’s double the intake of boys and encourage little people to take part. Remember ballet is the foundation of strength and balance and could really drive forward those budding sports stars. Never judge a book by its cover because you would never realise that these two little boys tearing through the mud in football, rugby, cricket, running....are actually ballet dancers. Here comes the boys ??
Lovely welcoming teachers and students. I recently visited to fit pointe shoes and while speaking with students and staff it was clear how passionate they were about dance and safety of the dancer, the atmosphere is a good balance of relaxed and disciplined. There were giggles throughout, but they were aware when they needed to get on and concentrate. Thank you for inviting me to visit, it was a pleasure, your students are very polite and a credit to you.
I have been dancing with Lynne since I was 2 years old and have come to look upon WTA as part of my family. I have too many favourite memories with my time at WTA, but the most recent would be having the opportunity to dance at Tammy’s wedding and surprise all her evening guests with a Bollywood flash mob, it was a lot of fun! My favourite show was my final show with WTA, I got to play the role of Peter in ‘Peter Pan’, it was a lot of hard work, but so much fun! I am going to miss WTA so much when I go to Uni, but I will always come back to visit!
I was at WTA for a long time and was taught by Lynne before she started the school so I have a lot of favourite memories from my time at the academy. To name a few: The first time we danced at the Yorkshire Show when we performed on pointe for the first time. Helping Rebecca through her ballet exam and helping on a Saturday morning, I loved watching all the baby ballet children grow up and improve through the school The week leading up to any of the shows, the excitement and anticipation and feeling of family is great, my favourite shows with WTA were dancing the part of Alice in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and the role of the Tin Man in ‘the Wizard of Oz’! We had a lot of performance opportunities with WTA it was great to be able to perform at the magic circle shows, dance at the Aagrah events, and summer fetes, performing my mirror dance and singing at the Christmas Cabaret. Other memories are the summer BBQ’s we had at Lynne’s, receiving the senior ballet award and I loved the choreography lessons when we watched everyone’s work at the end of class when everyone was so super on it and everything that people created was amazing! My favourite dance style was tap and jazz, I have loved being part of WTA and will miss it.
My best memory of WTA is probably being backstage during one of the Christmas cabarets with all the seniors, we were all having a picnic and trying to recreate past routines from the dance videos, it was a lot of fun! My favourite performance with WTA was my first, I played Captain Hook in ‘Peter Pan’ and loved it! I enjoyed all the classes I took with Lynne and later Tamsin, but my all time favourite style was Bollywood!
